The Bottom of Bois d’Arc Lake

March 8, 2021

The Lone Star BMW Riders proposed a ride to the bottom of the new Bois d’Arc Lake in northeast Texas near Windom.  Sounds logical to me.  We gathered in McKinney and rode through the back roads and across the soon to be submerged FM 1396.

Scott led us across the old road that has been mostly removed ready for water to cover.  We got to the north side and came upon a large mound of dirt blocking an easy way to the highway on the other side.  I chose a path to the right around the mound and then came back around via a sand trail.  There was a bit of concern for the big motos to attempt the soft sand with low clearance, so they turned back.  We rode across the new bridge and met up with the club riders at the Windom Feed Sack.

I decided to head back home via some county roads that were not much more than a trail over black clay fields south of Windom.  A very nice day for a ride!
