Arkansas Fall Colors
October 24, 2008
A large gathering from the BMW DFW and Lone Star BMW Riders converged in Eureka Springs this weekend to get a taste of fall colors and crisp temperatures. David and I met Jerry’s group in Paris, TX on Friday. Had a great breakfast and headed out for around 420 miles of riding twisty roads on the way to the gathering.

Saturday was to be another ride of twisty roads and up into Missouri for a ferry ride. We had a change of plans that sent us down to Jasper for lunch at the Cliff House Inn and a very scenic view of the valley below.

We managed to lose David on the return ride and backtracked from Boxely Valley looking for him to Jasper where we got cell service again to hear he was fine and heading back to Eureka Springs. Jerry and Jamie and I finished up the afternoon ride in the dark, picking our way through the twisty roads and watching out for deer.

David and I headed back on Sunday for a ride up into Missouri across the very fun Hwy 90 and then back down through Oklahoma and Hwy 10 and 2. These roads were a treat with some very interesting scenery one would not expect in Oklahoma. A stop at a grill outside of Porum produced a very tasty hamburger and some fun company from the grill operators. We went through Robbers Cave area near Wilmington, OK and picked our way back into Texas.

It was a eventful and fun weekend, but it is great to be back home also.
Herman, we missed you and wish you a speedy recovery.
