I discovered the Lone Star BMW Riders club which was a group of experienced riders that were very willing to share moto-knowledge with me. I had done a couple of rides with the club up to Whitewright for the monthly club breakfasts. One of my initial longer rides with the club was a day ride up to Oklahoma to scout out a campground for the club. Charlie, Bo, and Alan led me up and back for a ~450 mile ride. I had purchased a Garmin eTrex GPS that had no maps, but would log positions for an export into a map program. Technology and motorcycles… A winning combo!
